Form 990: Telling the Good Story

June 5, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Faculty: A. Michael Gellman, CPA, CGMA, Fiscal Strategies 4 Nonprofits

Course Objective: Learn how your organization will appear to the general public when they read your Federal Form 990.

We will first overview the Federal Forms 990N and 990EZ briefly. We will then take you on a whirl wind tour of the Federal Form 990 by highlighting selected line-items within the form and reference the corresponding 21 schedules that could possibly be required to be completed by your organization. The emphasis will be to highlight areas of disclosure and strategies that could help position your organization to better provide the required information and compile the necessary back-up documentation so the general public, donors and funding sources can see that your governance and financial house is in good order. We will then go over the compliance issues as they relate to governance and key disclosures. Sample policies and compliance forms will be reviewed so participants can see how these policies look and be able to cross-reference them to the Federal Form 990.
